The Queen’s Baton Relay unites a diverse range of countries and cultures in a common purpose.

Containing a special message for the people of the Commonwealth, the baton traditionally starts its journey from Buckingham Palace and touches many lives as it makes its way to the host city of the Commonwealth Games. The Melbourne 2006 Queen’s Baton is an important cultural icon that will be carried by many thousands of people more than 180,000 kilometres to be welcomed by community celebrations throughout the Commonwealth.

To honour the important role the relay plays in promoting the spirit of the Commonwealth Games, the Royal Australian Mint has released the memorable Queen’s Baton Relay coin, available in either proof or uncirculated form.
